Mending old things, preserving them, looking after them – on some level there's no rational grounds for it.” I take some comfort in the fact that anyone can out-brake me no matter what I may do. It's nerve-racking when they tailgate so effing close. Posted: Sat 4:38 pm Post subject: Re: Classic cars and safety True, but in my 4Runner or truck it isn't nearly as aggravating as in the bug. Posted: Sat 11:58 am Post subject: Re: Classic cars and safety They're afraid to pass and that's typical. Women will ride my bumper for miles and miles. At least with men, they will eventually pass. I get it all the time since I limit my speed to 5 mph over the posted limit. That tailgating is not exclusive to ACVWs. You truly do not realize how bad/aggressive/asinine 90% of other drivers are until you have to drive a veedub in traffic. Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! at age 70 I know I have only a certain number of years left and I’d like to leave them in good health. We’ve had the bus for over 20 years but it’s getting close to the end. Today due to circumstances I had to drive on the freeway to an urgent care appointment. I enjoy driving our ‘69 bus around doing errands, etc. Posted: Sat 10:01 am Post subject: Re: Classic cars and safety Location: Ocean Beach in Beautiful BLUE California We are only given a little spark of madness - so you mustn't lose it! Back and forth to work is the highest risk for collisions possible he told me. He told me I was a year overdue for that visit. 90 mpg in town! In the emergency room the Dr attending me asked me how long I had been riding. I drove a Honda 90 trail back and forth to work for 9 months of the year, rain or shine for 3 years. The original owner of my '68 type 4 square back did not believe in seat belts so they are gone! Quality stuff, I'm really happy with their belts. I bought my '61 New Yorker and my bug belts here. It says for small aircraft but wonder if could be fitted to an old car. No doubt the "old" cars are less safe then current offerings, some more so then others. On the way to work momma deer crosses the road a little way down.ok use to that, then two feet in front of me here comes baby deer still in spots, amazed I missed it. Almost rode to work today but that little voice in the back of my head said, DON'T DO IT. If you think that is cause for worry, try it on a motorcycle. You don't have to text to be distracted, it is amazing it is not more then it is. When you think of miles driven, and then the pure idiots that are driving them, and we all know there are times when everyone is an idiot behind the wheel.
